Coach buys Stuart Weitzman
Coach has been making major changes as of late; from hiring a new creative director, to their new bag collection, and even their advertisements. Have you noticed or is it just me? The brand is trying to change the views of the past that many consumers hold on to. Coach wants to be a certified luxury brand and compete with brands such as Kate Spade(which has upgraded with the use of pop colors) and Michael Kors.
Coach will now acquire Stuart Weitzman to raise the stakes a little higher. The Coach brand will buy out the company from Sycamore Partners which bought Stuart Weitzman last year. The Sycamore Partners also own the Jones Group which carries brands such as; Nine West, Rachel Roy and Jones New York. I remember when they bought Rachel Roy as I use to intern there. There is a lot of movement in the fashion industry as you can see. Hopefully, there will be a lot of jobs openings as well.
